Extension Lecture on Punjabi Cinema organised at Modi College
Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala today organised an extension lecture on the topic of ‘Representation of Social issues in Punjabi Cinema.’ The main speaker of this programme was Mr. Rajeev Kumar, National Awardee film Director and academician. The objective of this lecture was to discuss the depiction of social problems and issues in Punjabi Cinema. College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar welcomed the speaker and said that Cinema is the finest art form to depict human conditions. Sh. Rajeev Kumar while addressing the students explained the historical perspective, how films are made, why films are made and the current themes in Punjabi Cinema. He said that the contemporary cinema is on ‘escapist’ mode which is not a good trend for any art medium. A lively discussion followed the lecture. Students of Journalism had a healthy discussion with the resource person.
Dr. Gurdeep Singh, Head, Department of Punjabi conducted the stage. Vote of thanks was presented by Vice Principal Dr. Baljinder Kaur. A large number of students and faculty members were present on the occasion.

ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿਖੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਿਨੇਮਾ ਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ
ਸਥਾਨਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ, ਕਾਲਜ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਅੱਜ ‘ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਿਨੇਮਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਮੁੱਦਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀ’ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁੱਖ ਵਕਤਾ ਵਜੋਂ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰ ਵਿਜੇਤਾ ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਕ ਅਤੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਰਾਜੀਵ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਵਕਤਾ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਹਾਲਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀ ਲਈ ਸਿਨੇਮਾ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਮਾਧਿਅਮ ਹੈ। ਵਕਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਰਸਮੀ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਡਾ. ਕੁਲਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ, ਪੱਤਰਕਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਜਨਸੰਚਾਰ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਕਰਵਾਈ। ਮੁੱਖ ਵਕਤਾ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਰਾਜੀਵ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਿਨੇਮਾ ਦਾ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਸਮਝਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਲ ਫ਼ਿਲਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਜ ਨਾਲ ਰਿਸ਼ਤਾ, ਫ਼ਿਲਮਾਂ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਮਹਿੰਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਗੁੰਝਲਦਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ, ਫ਼ਿਲਮਾਂ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਮਕਸਦ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਿਲਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਕ ਵਰਗ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੱਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਧਿਐਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ। ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਦੌਰ ਦਾ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਿਨੇਮਾ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਮੁੱਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੇ ਕੁਝ ਖਾਸ ਵਰਗਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੋਚ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਦੀ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀ ਤੱਕ ਸਿਮਟ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਲਾਤਮਿਕ ਪੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਵਧੀਆ ਰੁਝਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਜਰਨਲਿਜ਼ਮ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਵਟਾਂਦਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਿਆ। ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਮੰਚ ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਡਾ. ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ, ਮੁਖੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਬਾਖੂਬੀ ਨਿਭਾਈ। ਵਾਈਸ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਬਲਜਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਮਤਾ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਮੂਹ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਮੂਲੀਅਤ ਕੀਤੀ।
